1. Lifetime Achievement Award
This award recognizes a life long contribution to advancing the state of the art in joint reconstruction that has changed the landscape of arthroplasty. This achievement was acknowledged in the past years to Drs. Burstein, Goodfellows, Ranawat, Freeman, Yamamuro and Walker. The recipient at ISTA 2008 will give a 20-minute presentation in a plenary session and the award will be presented during a special ceremony at the Gala Award Dinner. The plaque is sponsored by ISTA.
2. ˇ°HAPˇ± Paul Award (USD 5,000 cash award)
Howard A. Paul, DVM, was a tireless researcher advancing the science and technology of arthroplasty. He was one of the charter members of ISTA and an award has been established to honor his outstanding contribution. A special 20-minute presentation will be presented in a plenary session for the best paper on new developments in the field of arthroplasty and the award will be presented during a special ceremony at the Gala Award Dinner.
The plaque is sponsored by Finsbury Orthopaedics.
3. Student Biomechanics Paper Award (USD 2,000 cash award)
This award will be presented to a student who submits the best paper on biomechanics in the field of arthroplasty. The recipient will give a 10-minute presentation at a plenary session. The award will be presented at the Gala Award Dinner. The plaque is sponsored by Finsbury Orthopaedics.
4. Student Biomaterials Paper Award (USD 2,000 cash award)
This award will be presented to a student who submits the best paper on biomaterials in the field of arthroplasty. The recipient will give a 10-minute presentation and will be presented at the Gala Dinner. The plaque is sponsored by Finsbury Orthopaedics.
5. Student Molecular Biology/Biochemistry Paper Award (USD 2,000 cash award)
This award will be presented to a student who submits the best paper on molecular biology/biochemistry in the field of arthroplasty. The recipient will give a 10-minute presentation in a plenary session. The award will be presented at the Gala Dinner. The plaque is sponsored by Finsbury Orthopaedics.
6. Poster Award (USD 2,500 cash award)
This award will be presented to the best poster displayed at the conference venue on any theme related to Arthroplasty. Each poster displayed at the meeting will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee. The cash award of US$ 2,500 will be presented at the Gala dinner. The plaque is sponsored by Finsbury Orthopaedics.
Application for Awards 2-6
For the awards No. 2-6, researchers can apply by submitting both an abstract and a full paper. Authors can submit as many papers as they want for different awards, but only one paper will be accepted for each presenting author. For students participating for the awards, a proper certificate is required. Applicants are asked to indicate which award they are applying for in the last section of the abstract submission form.

The awards winning papers will be forwarded to the Journal of Arthroplasty for publication; however, there is no guarantee that the papers will be accepted for publication.
