On behalf of the organizing committee, it is a great honor and privilege for us to invite you to participate in the 21st Annual Congress of the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty (ISTA2008) being held October 1 - 4, 2008 in Seoul, Korea.

Arthroplasty in the 21st Century is continuously evolving, as clinicians, scientists and engineers strive to meet the biological and mechanical challenges it presents. Recently, there has been a significant advancement in the field of arthroplasty technology, especially, materials and new bearing systems, design, computer-assisted surgery such as navigation, robotic surgery and surgical techniques.

ISTA is the only scientific orthopedic society dedicated to the idea of providing a constructive environment for scientists, engineers and surgeons to come together and share their work and knowledge. ISTA has grown out of a series of annual international symposia first held in Germany in 1988 and has touched the following topics; Clinical Results of Arthroplasty, Revision Surgery, Evaluation Methods for Clinical Performance, Predictive Testing and Modeling, New Bearing Surfaces and Wear Testing, Emerging Technologies in Spinal Surgery, Computer-Assisted Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Biological Solutions and Tissue Engineering, Implant Design and Methodologies, New Materials and Coatings, Custom Implants & Techniques.

The ISTA2008 will give the perfect opportunity for all surgeons, basic scientists and engineers, to gather for the exchange of ideas, various new technologies, and formulation of future directions in the world of arthroplasty.
